Rob Daugherty was born in Hood River, Oregon and has always been very involved with animals and nature. His employment in law enforcement with the Federal Fisheries Agency on the Columbia River gave him the opportunity to view wildlife from land, sea and air. This experience inspired him to capture, through photography, the landscapes and wildlife he encountered on a daily basis.
As Rob explored his photography skills in his free time, his career in law enforcement opened another business opportunity. While at the shooting range one day, he found that frequent trips to the car for ammo and other items was taking away from his concentration and valuable time. So he went home and designed his first vest on his kitchen table, which grew into a business he calls The Vest Guy. While these initial vests were tactical/safety vests for law enforcement, Rob also saw a similar need for photographers, and so he opened up several lines aimed at serving photographers, which has become his focus in recent years.
In addition to his personal photography and vest business, Rob also takes groups of photographers and hobbyists on wildlife trips, imparting his knowledge of wildlife behavior and skill behind the camera. He’s also eager to share all the amazing stories his countless trips to the most amazing natural habitats in the world.
