Jonathan Hawker comes from a background in sales, but was compelled to put his career on hold when his twin babies were born 3 months premature premature and became a stay-at-home dad for a number of years. During that time, Jon was able to experiment with social media as that was birthing, creating several home-based ventures including social media consulting. These skills proved extremely valuable when Jon met his co-founder Aaron Harwell while coaching biddy football, and he had an idea to aggregate photos at events with a mobile application. They joined forces and submitted a business plan to the incubator at the University of Toledo, won the competition, then it was off to the races.
This idea would be the beginning of Twine.it — a social media based application that allows the client to congregate photos from different types of events from weddings to retail brand locations and make those photos available instantly. It also allows clients to acquire valuable consumer information and monitor user experience in a variety of ways. The event professional was the initial emphasis for the company since they were able to couple the mobile application with a mounting apparatus that gave event photographers, DJ’s and venues the ability to add value to their current product offerings. With that clientele established, Twine.it has expanded their scope to cater to local and national brands that need better ways to track user experience and connect with their audience.
While growth has taken some time, Jon has found fulfillment in the journey of entrepreneurship. He’s spent countless hours achieving his business goals, but he’s also been able to find a work-life balance that makes all aspects of life more fulfilling.
